Forklift Rotators: FAQ's

Forklift rotators are a piece of attachment equipment which allows forklift truck forks to rotate, meaning it can invert or dump a load before returning to its pick-up position. There are several types of rotator attachments for different applications and for moving different objects and loads.

Forklift rotator attachments can greatly extend the capabilities of your forklift truck, improving the productivity of your operations through time saving and reducing manual labour when having to pick up and put down loads.

Forklift rotator attachments are beneficial for a range of industries, including food processing, agricultural and manufacturing.

Forklift rotators and forklift tippers are two terms which can be used interchangeably to refer to an attachment type which extends the ability of the forklift truck to rotate and dump a load.

However, in some cases, the term tipper may be used to refer specifically to an accessory which provides a tipping motion for bins, skips and other waste.

Forklift rotator attachments are used across food processing, recycling operations, agricultural and manufacturing industries – plus many more. Common uses include picking and emptying bins, barrels and containers, although forklift rotators can be used for all applications where loads need to be rotated.

It is a legal requirement that forklift attachments have to be LOLER 1998 compliant as well as adhering to PUWER 1998. This means the attachment will require an individual inspection to ensure it meets the requirements of these regulations; the attachment will be given a sticker certifying that it has passed inspection if it is LOLER compliant

Yes, rotator attachments must meet current industry standards. However, it is important to note that from January 2021, the CE mark has been replaced with the UKCA mark in the United Kingdom.

A forklift rotator can rotate either 180° or 360°. Rotators are available in a range of capacities, ensuring that it can handle all types of loads; forklift rotators should never be used for loads above their capacity range, however, as this can cause serious harm and damage. As an attachment, rotators are required to clearly state their safe working load, which should be adhered to.
